Para essa e outras doen\u00e7as, os cientistas da \u00e1rea avan\u00e7am suas pesquisas e descobertas utilizando algoritmos sofisticados de gen\u00f4mica comparativa, que exigem alto poder computacional e manipulam um volume imenso de dados. Vale ressaltar que nas tr\u00eas \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, houve uma grande evolu\u00e7\u00e3o na tecnologia de sequenciamento de genomas, que permitiu a determina\u00e7\u00e3o de um n\u00famero sem precedentes de sequ\u00eancias de DNA, RNA e prote\u00ednas. A grande maioria dessas sequ\u00eancias biol\u00f3gicas encontra-se em bases de dados p\u00fablicas com a disponibilidade de mais do que 240 milh\u00f5es de sequ\u00eancias. Ainda, na procura por compatibilidade de doadores de \u00f3rg\u00e3os, a an\u00e1lise de registros de doadores de \u00f3rg\u00e3os do Brasil \u00e9 crucial devido \u00e0 incompletude de grande parte dos registros armazenados em um banco p\u00fablico com mais de 5 milh\u00f5es de registros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Em face da dificuldade de manuten\u00e7\u00e3o de laborat\u00f3rios com a infraestrutura de ponta para executar tais aplica\u00e7\u00f5es, o uso de nuvens computacionais vem de encontro com os requisitos de processamento e armazenamento da vasta quantidade de dados a um custo atrativo. Todavia, para utilizar o ambiente de nuvem tal que as aplica\u00e7\u00f5es sejam executadas em tempo h\u00e1bil, de acordo com um certo custo, \u00e9 imperativo saber selecionar recursos da nuvem, configur\u00e1-los, monitor\u00e1-los e oferecer formas de an\u00e1lise dos resultados das aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de bioinform\u00e1tica para auxiliar o pr\u00f3prio cientista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Com o intuito de explorar as rela\u00e7\u00f5es de custo e desempenho de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de bioinform\u00e1tica na nuvem AWS este projeto vai concentrar esfor\u00e7os na especifica\u00e7\u00e3o de metodologias de execu\u00e7\u00e3o eficiente de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es, atrav\u00e9s de an\u00e1lise de desempenho, mecanismos de escalonamento, elasticidade de recursos e toler\u00e2ncia a falhas, visando uma melhor efici\u00eancia, robustez e minimiza\u00e7\u00e3o de custos monet\u00e1rios para os usu\u00e1rios. She currently acts in undergraduate and graduate program, advising a number of master and doctoral students. She is a Level 1 Researcher at CNPq (a Brazilian Research Agency), possessing more than 100 publications in journals and proceedings of national and international conferences. Her research interests are parallel and distributed computing, including theory and applications.
